Claire and Ben

Well recently had the pleasure of capturing Claire and Ben's big day at St Stephens Church followed by the Reception at The School House, Lichfield, Staffordshire.

I started the day meeting Claire whilst she and her bridesmaids got ready where I captured candid, emotional and excited moments by all of those involved whilst the drinks started flowing and the giggles began!

And what a fun loving bunch of girls they were!

If I am perfectly honest my favourite part of a wedding day is the morning prep - the nerves are starting to peek, the excitement is immense, and from a photographers point of view I get to meet the rest of the bridal party who up until now I haven't normally met.

Then there are the details to capture too - the jewellery, the shoes, the dress, the bridesmaids bouquet and the brides bouquet. Often there are more than just those details - anything sentimental or a special gift from somebody.

From there I made my way to St Stephens Church, Fradley where I met Ben, his best man and ushers.

The ceremony went smoothly and was a pleasure to be involved.

From the church I made my way to the reception venue The School House, a beautiful building surrounded by countryside complete with river, wooden bridge and stunning views.

The inside is just as lovely with a large reception room with one wall being filled with windows overlooking the river and fields, fabric draped ceilings with twinkly lights scattered throughout.

Claire had chosen a Cinderella theme for her big day and as a result had spent a lot of time on all the details which made for a beautiful display of favours, ornaments, cake topper and decorations.

Amongst these details was a beautiful shade of blue which personally I had never come across for a wedding before - with tones of grey and sky blue it gave the wedding a dreamy, mystical feeling.

All I can say is well done Claire Maher for all the work you put into the details on the day - it was great to photograph!

Oh and not to forget the sweet cart which was built by the groom Ben!

I mentioned the beauty of the surroundings of The School House already which we really took advantage of as we made our way outside for some shots of the happy couple.

At every wedding it is a must to get the shots of the bride and groom alone, not only does it mean it gives the photographer the chance to get the best shots possible, but it also gives the couple some private moments out of their busy day to just relax, to take in what has happened so far and it also gives them some time to enjoy each others company in private for the first time as a married couple.

Another benefit of getting the bride and groom alone together during the day is to create images that will be a surprise for them - even though they are posing for the shots they will no doubt forget a lot of them by the end of the day as their day is so busy. So not only are the images a surprise for their guests - they are a surprise for them too!

All in all this was a great day with great people - thoroughly enjoyed by the guests as well as me!
